ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT FOR FISCAL AFFAIRS, CLAFLIN UNIVERSITY, ORANGEBURG, SC

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Associate Vice President reports to the Vice President for Fiscal Affairs. He/she will be responsible for ensuring consistent application of accounting policies and procedures as it relates to the internal control of the University, and therefore must have an in-depth technical knowledge of non-profit accounting for private institutions (i.e., FASB and the NACUBO Financial and Accounting Reporting Manual). The Associate Vice President is responsible for preparing interim and year-end financial statements; coordinating the annual financial audit with the University’s independent auditors; coordinating the annual Single Audit with the independent auditors; and as budget officer, overseeing the preparation of the University’s annual budget, monthly reconciliations and interim reporting. Perform any other duties within the scope of this position.
QUALIFICATIONS: The University seeks an individual with public accounting and/or extensive auditing background to become its Associate Vice President for Fiscal Affairs, the managing accounting officer. Qualified applicants will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field (master’s degree preferred); at least 7 years auditing and accounting; and CPA certification or matriculating towards CPA certification is strongly preferred. An in-depth knowledge of Jenzabar EX and its applications, or an in-depth knowledge of integrated administrative software packages for higher education is a major preference. Previous administrative/managerial experience with increasing leadership responsibility preferred. Effective oral, written and interpersonal skills are essential.
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
