Duties and Responsibilities Manages, enhances, develops, and trains staff on automated financial aid system and data analysis; assists the Financial Aid Director with daily operations of the financial aid office and staff; serves in the absence of the Financial Aid Director on all matters of importance; conducts quality assurance reviews for student awards; oversees Satisfactory Academic Progress appeal quality committee and all associated tasks; develops and revises office policy and procedures manual; works with the Department of Information Technology Functional Analyst to resolve problems related to PeopleSoft functionality and applications; oversees the reconciliation of the Federal Direct Loan Program, and Campus Based Programs; processes all Title IV Refunds for students withdrawing from school and serves as the liaison with appropriate internal BSU offices regarding Title IV refund adjustments; schedules, hosts, and attends workshops that provide counseling to students and parents on financial aid matters; assists in preparation of all major reports including FISAP, Common Origination Data, and other Adhoc reports; works collaboratively with administrator, internal and external constituents in support of the University’s mission, goals, objectives and principles. This is position may require work on weekends and evenings; some job related travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree preferred in counseling, student personnel, higher education administration, business or a related field.
Experience Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience in financial aid with a thorough knowledge of federal and state regulations. Experience with integrated systems, preferably PeopleSoft, Electronic Data Exchange (EDE) Common Origination Data (COD) and experience with EdConnect/TDClient messaging required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to interact and establish rapport with diverse populations; ability to work long hours in fast paced environment.

Responsibilities: Counsel students, parents, and university community on all financial aid matters; review and evaluate financial aid applicants to determine eligibility, completeness and accuracy as well as make awards; conduct financial aid workshops for campus visitors, general public, and university community as assigned; attend meetings, seminars, and workshops as assigned; perform all functions related to various state scholarship programs ( i.e. Maryland State Scholarships, DC Incentive Grant, Eastern Shore Tuition Assistance, etc.) to include evaluation and review, awarding and reconciliation.
