Duties and Responsibilities Manages, enhances, develops, and trains staff on automated financial aid system and data analysis; assists the Financial Aid Director with daily operations of the financial aid office and staff; serves in the absence of the Financial Aid Director on all matters of importance; conducts quality assurance reviews for student awards; oversees Satisfactory Academic Progress appeal quality committee and all associated tasks; develops and revises office policy and procedures manual; works with the Department of Information Technology Functional Analyst to resolve problems related to PeopleSoft functionality and applications; oversees the reconciliation of the Federal Direct Loan Program, and Campus Based Programs; processes all Title IV Refunds for students withdrawing from school and serves as the liaison with appropriate internal BSU offices regarding Title IV refund adjustments; schedules, hosts, and attends workshops that provide counseling to students and parents on financial aid matters; assists in preparation of all major reports including FISAP, Common Origination Data, and other Adhoc reports; works collaboratively with administrator, internal and external constituents in support of the University’s mission, goals, objectives and principles. This is position may require work on weekends and evenings; some job related travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree preferred in counseling, student personnel, higher education administration, business or a related field.
Experience Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience in financial aid with a thorough knowledge of federal and state regulations. Experience with integrated systems, preferably PeopleSoft, Electronic Data Exchange (EDE) Common Origination Data (COD) and experience with EdConnect/TDClient messaging required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to interact and establish rapport with diverse populations; ability to work long hours in fast paced environment.

The Office of Student Financial Aid is accepting resumes for a full-time, regular, exempt position with full benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities: Counsel students, parents, and university community on all financial aid matters; review and evaluate financial aid applicants to determine eligibility, completeness and accuracy as well as make awards; conduct financial aid workshops for campus visitors, general public, and university community as assigned; attend meetings, seminars, and workshops as assigned; perform all functions related to various state scholarship programs ( i.e. Maryland State Scholarships, DC Incentive Grant, Eastern Shore Tuition Assistance, etc.) to include evaluation and review, awarding and reconciliation. GENERAL DUTIES
Coordinates financial aid procedures and activities and provides financial aid information.

– Collect, review, and verify student financial aid information.
– Update and input financial aid information.
– Participate in student financial aid workshops and orientation.
– Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
– Supervise the part-time staff in the Financial Aid Computer Lab.
– Manage the imaging and scanning operations in the Office of Financial Aid.
– Represent the Office of Financial Aid at meetings or events (on and off campus).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree is required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of related work experience preferred.
– A strong customer service orientation, leadership skills, and attention to detail are essential along
with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
– Knowledge of standard software, CUNYFIRST, student database/on-line systems, and federal and
state student financial aid regulations are desirable.

Job Summary: The Director is responsible for leadership of the University’s office of student financial services (financial aid and student accounts), including oversight of staff development, operational and strategic planning, financial aid packaging, compliance, integrity of student accounts, collection activities and payment plans, funds management and stewardship, and the delivery of outstanding financial services for students and families.

 

Job Duties:

1. Leads the office of student financial services as a department that is proactive in working with families to plan for the use of financial aid programs, payment plans and other financial products to finance a UAPB education ensuring optimal customer service is provided to students and families.

2. Oversees the determination of aid eligibility and the packaging and disbursement of student financial aid in accordance with guidelines and regulations provided by the University, federal and state governments, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and other private funding agencies.

3. Develops and implements department policies and procedures.

4. Responsible for staff development including hiring, training, managing, and evaluation.

5. Reviews and approves timely reconciliation reports for all financial aid programs.

6. Ensures timely completion of all required reports as well as development and submission of regular operational reports to supervisor.

7. Coordinates and refines automated systems and Web sites used to serve families and manage funds, stewardship, compliance, packaging, disbursement and reporting.

8. Creates an environment that promotes early and regular interaction with students and families about financial aid and the timely resolution of student accounts.

9. Performs other duties as assigned.

MIMIMUM REQUIRMENTS: Bachelor’s degree supplemented with five years of experience working in student financial services, demonstrated ability to work with administrative software programs (preference for experience with Datatel) with strong organizational and communication skills.
