Responsibilities: Serves as the primary support for the Senior Director of Human Resources in completing projects, generating and analyzing internal PeopleSoft reports and external reports for the Office of Human Resources; exercises discretion and independent judgment in performing job duties; confidentially assists with employee relations matters that may have legal implications and other sensitive matters; provides administrative support in maintaining spreadsheets; oversees filing systems for the Office of Human Resources and otherwise functions as the Office Manager; makes travel arrangements as required for meetings; coordinates the Visa’s for new and continuing employees as appropriate with the University’s immigration attorney; completes reports through PeopleSoft that include the Department of Legislative Services, USM reports, Master List, Salary Book, PMP, ad hoc and miscellaneous reporting as requested; serves as primary reviewer for the Personnel Authorization Consolidation Site (PACS); serves as backup to the employment function which includes assisting with PeopleAdmin application tracking; functions as a Retirement Coordinator for the Maryland State Retirement System; attends Staff Council Meetings; coordinates staffing with the temporary agency; updates the departmental budget on a spreadsheet which includes making adjustments for supplies and advertising; coordinates the distribution of PMPs ensuring that supervisors establish yearly objectives, conducts mid-term reviews, and completes end of the review period PMPs.


Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree required. Minimum three (3) years of administrative support experience required with budget and maintenance. Human Resources experience desirable. Comprehensive knowledge of and skill in the practical application of office practices, procedures, and equipment, business English, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and arithmetic; proficiency in use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of automated office equipment. Must have excellent customer service; ability to project a professional and positive image; to interact with students, public officials and staff at all levels in a courteous and efficient manner; to plan, organize, prioritize complicated and continuing assignments without instruction.

Job Summary/Basic Function This position is responsible for administering the University’s benefit programs to include insurance and retirement programs. Primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, adhering to federal, state laws and policies/procedures of the University in relation to “benefits” and “payroll”; e-verifying new employees; processing benefits for new employees; working and analyzing various benefits reports, such as the Benefits Error Report and other benefits-related reports; working and analyzing the Billing Error Report; maintaining benefits notifications; training on benefits changes during Annual Enrollment; processing benefit changes for employee and retirees during correction periods and as needed based on qualifying status changes; processing enrollment forms status changes and other benefits related forms on an ongoing basis; conducting the “benefits orientation” for all new employees; addressing questions and concerns from employees, graduate students and retirees; counseling employees on retirement eligibility and procedures; planning and organizing the University’s Annual Health and Wellness Fair.The successful candidate must have excellent time management and analytical skills; effective judgment, tact, diplomacy and discretion; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and excellent computer skills to include the use of the MS Office Suite. The primary purpose of this position is to work with the public and campus community providing service with regards to the People Admin Application System, Banner and other personnel issues. The incumbent will serve as receptionist for the Personnel Office. This position coordinates and/or assist the Personnel Officers in the areas of Employment, Classification, Benefits and/or workers compensation. Incumbents will greet visitors and callers with questions and concerns regarding employee transactions. Receive and distribute mail. Process travel request, reserve automobiles, check request and requisitions. Responsible for inventory and ordering supplies as needed. Incumbent will administer the HR Support Ticketing system to ensure all inquiries and requests are satisfied and to support an enhanced level of customer service.
