The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Delaware State University seeks a tenure-track Assistant /Associate Professors in Mathematics starting in the Fall of 2017.

A Ph.D. in Mathematics is required.  Areas of applied mathematics, or algebra is preferred. . In addition to possessing excellent communication skills, the candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to teach both graduate and undergraduate levels. The successful candidate will also have an opportunity to undertake research with DSU colleagues in federal or state funded research projects. He or she will have a proven research/teaching capability in their area of specialization and be able to teach successfully lower and intermediate level courses in mathematics. As a successful candidate and a new faculty member, he/she will work in an exciting environment that encourages collaborative and multi-disciplinary approaches to expand and strengthen the department research goals. Supervision of graduate students is required.

The Department offers undergraduate degrees in Mathematics, and Mathematics Education; Master’s degrees in Mathematics; and Ph.D.’s. in Interdisciplinary Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Physics. Delaware State University (DSU) has a diverse faculty and student population of more than 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students. DSU is located in Dover, Delaware and has campuses in Wilmington and Georgetown, Delaware.

Delaware State University, located in Central Delaware, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position beginning mid-August 2017.  Candidates who are dedicated to excellence in undergraduate teaching with strong backgrounds in both anatomy & physiology (with a focus in Anatomy) are encouraged to apply.  The primary teaching responsibilities for the position are Anatomy and Physiology (Nursing majors), Human Anatomy, Histology and other courses in the candidate’s area of interest. Candidates will be expected to develop a program of research that incorporates undergraduate students.

A minimum teaching load of 12 contact hours for each semester is the typical teaching requirement. The successful applicant is expected to establish a research program and mentor undergraduate research students.  Research collaborations are encouraged within and outside of the department and/or institution.

The Department of Biology is committed to excellence in teaching at multiple levels, including courses in cellular and molecular biology, microbiology and neuroscience.  The department is staffed with seventeen Ph.D.-level, full-time tenure-track faculty members, an M.S.-level laboratory coordinator/instructor.  Currently, the department has approximately 200 undergraduate biology majors; the department also serves students in the Colleges of Nursing and Health Professions, and Agriculture and Related Sciences.

Candidates for this position should possess a Ph.D. in the Biological sciences with an emphasis in Anatomy and Physiology, or have prior experience teaching anatomy & physiology.  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is accepting applications to fill a tenure-track faculty position in Biology. The Assistant/Associate Professor will fulfill commitments to teach in the undergraduate and graduate biology program, conduct research, advise students, serve on committees, and assume other responsibilities deemed necessary to fulfill the mission of the department and the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. In addition to teaching, this position requires ongoing compliance with the criteria for faculty performance in research and grantsmanship, faculty development, service to the University and the community, committee participation, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
